Chemical Name: 2-Mercaptobenzothiazole

 

Light yellow powder, it is a moderate to fast accelerator and extensively used in vulcanization of various kinds of natural and synthetic rubbers such as tires and rubber shoes.

 

The critical curing temperature of VULBOND MBT-75GE/F150 is approx 125C, therefore, it is easily scorched. It can be used as vulcanization retarder in free sulfur curing system or Neoprene (CR). It is also used as the chemical plasticizer in natural rubber.

 

VULBOND MBT-75GE/F150 requires combination reaction with zinc oxide and fatty acid. For a result to achieve faster curing and a higher tensile strength. It can be boosted by the use of secondary accelerators such as guanidines, dithiocarbamates, thiurams or alkali materials.

 

It is not used in rubber article that has any contact with food because of its bitterness. After all, it is non-staining and non-discoloring.
